ABOUT YAaH

I used to write realllllly long things. I used to be an introvert. Now I've lost the patience for both, but still can't help but write something. You should go read that letter Vonnegut wrote to those students — one thing really stuck with me, "No fair tennis without a net." The medium is the message. The form is the feat. It's true what they say, I wrote you a long letter because I didn't have the time to write you a short one. Or at least maybe the opposite of that is true.

I know that 5-7-5 haikus don't really make a ton of sense in English. I know it's out of vogue. I know that most of these are actually senryu. But. Yet. The act of processing something into the restrictive form is the whole beauty of the thing. The message of this medium is that everything, every difficult thing, and beautiful thing, can be processed, reduced, or, or glorified in even child's play poetry form. I am just a haiku and so are you.
